Martin Adler
Martin Adler, 94, of Sandy Springs, Ga., died July 15, 2011. Private funeral services were held at King David Cemetery in Falls Church, Virginia on Mon., July 18.
Marty was the youngest of nine children. During the depression he sold newspapers to help support the family. A man of many trades, he was running a grocery store when he enlisted in the Army after Pearl Harbor. After serving in World War II, Marty settled in Silver Spring, Md., where he and his wife, Esta, raised three children. His thirty plus years in Maryland were spent as the owner of men’s clothing stores. He retired and moved to Atlanta in 1990 after the death of his wife. Marty is predeceased by his wife Esta, of blessed memory, and survived by his children Jason and Donna Adler of Atlanta, Rabbi Michael and Elaine Strasberg, and Sandra Strasberg Kramer of Flushing, N.Y. In addition to his 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, “Uncle Morty” is survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews. Marty lived a full life recently celebrating his 94th birthday. He led an active lifestyle and particularly enjoyed family, friends and baseball. He was an active member of Congregation Beth Tefillah in Sandy Springs. Donations in his memory may be made to Congregation Beth Tefillah or the charity of your choice.
